Introduction | 展覽介紹
The Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC) at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is staging “The Crossover Phenomenon: A Secret Journey of Underwear” exhibition by Intimate apparel design lecturer Dr Kristina Shin at the Fashion Gallery (MN109) in PolyU from 5th October to 30th October 2012.
This exhibition/installation research project explores the fascinating area of crossover design possibilities in underwear by blending distinct design elements from outerwear in order to celebrate the ever-changing nature of fashion. It presents sixteen crossover outfits together with a ‘virtual catwalk’.
This exhibition was first showcased at the Innocentre, Hong Kong in September 2010 and has been featured at Intima Defiles (France), Intima Italy, WGSN (UK) and Underwear & Fashion Insight (China) fibre2fashion.com, and adsleata.com. A recent invitation to present at the Ural Federal University, Russia in March 2012 demonstrates the timeless and unique characteristics of crossover underwear design.
Dr Kristina Shin is a faculty member of ITC. She received her university education from three countries (Korea, USA, and the UK) and has accumulated over 12 years of experience as a designer and patternmaker in both outerwear and underwear industries. Dr Shin is also the author of ‘Patternmaking for Underwear Design’.
